Meet Your Trainer

Paul Farndon formed Learn letting after having operated his own Residential Sales & Lettings business in the East Midlands for 26 years, and delivering the National Association of Estate Agents’ Technical Award courses in both subjects at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College.  He went on to become a distance-learning tutor for Manchester College delivering the Diploma in Residential lettings & management (DipRLM)

He is highly qualified having passed the National Association of Estate Agents Certificate in Residential Lettings & Management (CRLM - now DipRLM) in 1999, and graduated in Property Management in 2003 from Sheffield Hallam University.  In 2008 he became an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Paul has been a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents since 1989, and a member since 1979. He has applied to the Association of Residential Letting Agents to become a Member of the Association of Residential Letting Agents  (ARLA).

The value to be gained from Learn Letting is that it is unique in delivering courses to letting agents within the workplace.  This reduces costs to the business in that there is no ‘delegate’ rate, and nobody has to travel.  As well as updating businesses on new legislation, there is also a review of documentation that allows the Partners or Directors to reflect on whether income is being maximised to its fullest extent.  He looks at procedures that might be improved, and enables businesses to run more efficiently and smoothly.

Courses are normally one or on occasions two days, and can cover a multitude of subjects, the choice of which is that of the agency. The National Association of Estate Agents’ Technical Award for Residential Lettings & Management takes a little longer and can be delivered in 2 consecutive days making 16 hours in total, although this does not allow time for feedback owing to its condensed timescale.  If delivered over two sessions with a break of two or three weeks in between then feedback can be incorporated in the interim period.

Letting Agencies with whom he has conducted courses have asked him to return on more than one occasion, and are also able to keep in contact with any queries by telephone or e-mail thereafter.  Training is not a ‘one-off’, is on-going and should always be considered as such.  If you have a visit from your local Trading Standards Officer you could be asked what training is undertaken with staff members in order to ensure that they are keeping up-to-date and subsequently protecting the consumer.

Licensing of letting agents is being rolled-out by the Association of Residential Letting Agents  (ARLA), and is moving towards having all of its members so qualified, by passing the Technical Award in Residential Lettings & Management.  This is to reassure landlords and tenants that all aspects of the letting of a property has as much expertise and protection behind it that can possibly be achieved.

As letting agencies are as cost conscious as any other, delivery in the workplace can be much better value than delegates having to attend courses away from the office, and the cost of sending just 2 or 3 delegates can exceed that of Learn Letting coming to your office.
